This is my first and only review on Audible. I find myself just tuning out and rewinding because of the constant ability descriptions.

Last night I did the same with this book and it put me to sleep in about 5 minutes, I had to rewind it to where I last remembered which was in the same 11min chapter I set it to before I went to bed. The previous books would keep me up at night (I usually set a sleep timer of 30min) I would reset the timer over and over because I had to know what happened next.

At the time of this review, I am a little under halfway done and I am not sure if I want to finish it. I am frustrated by this book more than anything. The author could have written scenes post-fight where Jason makes quips about his party members' new gains or training/preparation scenes where the abilities are discussed in a situation that doesn't interrupt the flow of an otherwise awesome fight. That said there are better ways to do it. With more upgrades since they ranked up to silver, it can be important to be aware of those changes for worldbuilding and potential interactions later in the story. I get it, we haven't seen the rest of the team in action for a while. The times I have read stats and its mid-fight is almost exclusively when it has an important impact on the current fight. Most Litrpg's will buffer stats, level-ups, new abilities, descriptions, etc AFTER a fight is over or when huge gains have been made and they do an overview. It is extremely frustrating because a lot of the ability descriptions are a good 15-20 seconds of audio before it goes back to the fight. There are fight scenes that would be epic if not for the CONSTANT description of every.

I think part of why it's so apparent in this installment is because it just simply ruins the scenes. I understand its a Litrpg, I have 60+ books in the genre though and I think this one takes the cake on stat/ability descriptions (Worse than book 8 of The Land). The 2 stars for the story are only given because it's the continuation of a series I have really enjoyed and I am a little under halfway done. If this were the first book in the series I would have returned it.
